Coloma Book of Memories now available!
The academic year 2009/10 is an important anniversary for Coloma. It marks 140 years since the school was opened with one pupil in 1869 by three Sisters of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary and Joseph (Ladies of Mary).
The anniversary was launched with the cutting of a special anniversary cake by the youngest Coloma student and oldest known local 'old girl', Kathleen Des Moulins. More information and photographs of the event can be found in the News Archive.
On Monday 28th September 2009, the whole school and more than 700 guests (made up of parents, old girls, ex staff and other friends of the school) celebrated Mass at Westminster Cathedral (please click to view the photo gallery). The event was a great success and it was wonderful to see so many Coloma friends there.
Numerous other events and reunions are planned for the rest of the year, in addition to the publication of a ‘Book of Memories’ and a celebration at The Festival Hall on Thursday 25th March 2010.
If you would like to take part in the celebrations, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please e-mail anniversary@coloma.croydon.sch.uk or call Vicky Burley Smith on 020 8654 6228 (ext. 295).
One of the first activities we are undertaking is to establish a database of the Coloma family. We would like all current and former pupils, parents, staff, governors and friends of the school (both of Coloma, Coloma Preparatory School, DMJs, St Anne’s College, St Anne’s Preparatory School and Coloma Teacher Training College) to please follow this link to a special 140th Anniversary form and enter your details. Please can you let other people who fit these categories know of this link or ask them to contact Vicky Burley Smith. All who have registered will then be kept informed with regular updates of anniversary preparations and events.
