A Career in Law: A Woman’s Perspective

On Tuesday 6th February, Judge Atkinson (QC) gave an inspiring talk on the day to day life of a senior circuit judge at a family court. Judge Atkinson (also known as Mrs Kinch) talked about how a woman can have a family of her own whilst also getting ahead in her career.

After being a barrister for 22 years and then becoming a Judge in 2007 she talked about the barriers she’s had to face and overcome as an aspiring female barrister in the field. Overcoming the struggles of being a woman from a working-class background in a male dominating profession, she excelled in her goals and aspirations.

Proving that with confidence, focus, determination and most of all resilience, any goal regardless of gender or background can still be achieved.
