Replacement of Supplementary Information Form and Extension of Consultation

The Supplementary Information Form originally placed on the Admissions Consultation web page on Monday 19 November 2018 was an incorrect version as it was not an online Supplementary Information Form as is now used by Coloma.  Also, it did not reflect the proposed amendment to the oversubscription criteria in Section 1 of Appendix 4 of the Admission Policy in relation to the Sacrament of Baptism.

The original Supplementary Information Form has now been replaced with the correct online Supplementary Information Form which refers to the proposed change to Section 1, Appendix 4 of the Admission Policy.  The correct online Supplementary Information Form can be found below.

Our consultation period is extended and will now end on Monday 14 January 2019 (and not on Monday 31 December 2018) in order to allow time for the proposed online Supplementary Information Form to be considered.  The two references to the deadline of Monday 31 December 2018 which appeared originally on this web page have been amended below to state Monday 14 January 2019.

The governing body will consider all responses received during the consultation period between Monday 19 November 2018 and Mon 14 January 2019.

Consultation on Admission Arrangements for Coloma Convent Girls’ School 2020/2021

The Coloma governing body is consulting on the proposed admission arrangements for entry to Coloma in the academic year 2020/2021 (year 7 to year 11). 

There is no change to the policy for the 2019/2020 admission round which is currently in progress.

The consultation period will run from Monday 19 November 2018 to Monday 14 January 2019.  You are invited to advise the school of your views and comments on any aspect of the proposed admission arrangements.

The proposed admission arrangements are set out in the following documents:

The proposed changes are:

Admission Policy

Page 1: the third paragraph will be amended to read:

“Coloma would welcome applications from throughout the community, regardless of faith or background; however, Applicants need to be aware that Coloma is a heavily over-subscribed school and that Catholic Candidates are prioritised above non-Catholic Candidates when there is over-subscription. The school received 425 applications from Catholic Candidates for entry in September 2018 which meant that offers of places in Year 7 were made to Catholic Candidates only.  For entry in September 2019 the school received [number to be confirmed when data available] applications from Catholic Candidates.”

Page 5: Section 1 of Appendix 4 will be amended to read:

1.    Sacrament of Baptism (maximum 10 points)
Baptism before or on the Candidate’s first birthday 10  
Baptism after the Candidate’s first birthday 5

Responses to the consultation will be considered by the governing body. The 2020-2021 admission arrangements will be determined by 28 February 2019. The determined admission arrangements will be published on the school website by 15 March 2019.
