Year 10 was treated to a surprise visit from Sr. Mary Catherine and Sr. Mary Benedicta from The Dominican Sisters of St Joseph, based in Lymington, near Southampton.
Originally coming to speak to Year 12, the sisters agreed to stay on and speak to Year 10 pupils about what it means to live a committed religious life in today’s world. They spoke very movingly about their early lives, how they were called to live a committed religious life and the sacrifices this entailed.
Sr. Mary Catherine, in particular, spoke of her love and passion for music and how she had to give up her desire to be a flautist in a professional concert orchestra.
The sisters happily answered all of the numerous questions put to them and promised to come back another day.
