Consultation on Admission Arrangements for Coloma Convent Girls’ School 2021-2022 – Years 7 to 11 and Sixth Form

The Coloma governing body is consulting on the proposed admission arrangements for entry to Coloma, Years 7 to 11 and the Sixth Form, in the academic year 2021-2022. 

There is no change to the admission arrangements for the 2020-2021 admission round which is currently in progress.

The consultation period will run from Tuesday 10 December 2019 to Monday 27 January 2020.  You are invited to advise the school of your views and comments on any aspect of the proposed admission arrangements.

The proposed admission arrangements are set out in the following documents:

Years 7 to 11

The proposed changes include:

Admission Policy 2021-2022

Page 1, third paragraph: the information in relation to the level of oversubscription for places at Coloma has been updated.

Page 2: in paragraph B of the order of priorities, the sibling priority has been extended to include Siblings who are former Coloma pupils, in addition to Siblings who are current Coloma pupils.

Page 3, Your Data: a new paragraph has been added to highlight the School’s data protection responsibilities in relation to admissions.  A link is provided to the School’s Privacy Notice.

Page 5, Appendix 2: the Sibling definition has been amended to include Siblings who are former Coloma pupils, in addition to Siblings who are current Coloma pupils.

References to the Admissions Committee have been changed to the Education Committee.  

Online Supplementary Information Form

Provision has been made for the Applicant to include details of any Sibling who is a former Coloma pupil.

The proposed changes include:

Page 1, Admission Number: the admission number for girls wishing to join the school in Year 12 has been increased from 50 to 65.  In the same paragraph, revisions have been made to achieve greater clarity.

Page 1: a new paragraph has been included to identify the academic entry requirements for internal and external students.

Page 1, Oversubscription Criteria: this section has been revised to achieve greater clarity.

Page 1, Waiting List: additional information has been provided to explain how the waiting list will operate.

Page 2, Your Data: a new paragraph has been added to highlight the School’s data protection responsibilities in relation to admissions.  A link is provided to the School’s Privacy Notice.

References to the Governors have been changed to the Governing Body.

Admission Procedure 2021-2022

A link to the online application form has been inserted.

Additional wording has been included within the Course Suitability Discussion paragraph to clarify that the discussion does not form part of the decision process on whether to offer a place.

Please note that the study pathways and Level 3 courses, to be offered to students entering Year 12 in September 2021, will be finalised and published in the Sixth Form Prospectus in the Autumn term of 2020.  The study pathways and Level 3 course information detailed within the attached online application form are the pathways and courses currently offered to students entering Year 12 in September 2020.

Please note that you must submit your response during the consultation period which ends on Monday 27 January 2020.

Responses to the consultation will be considered by the governing body. The 2021-2022 admission arrangements will be determined by 28 February 2020.  The determined admission arrangements will be published on the school website by 15 March 2020.
