Duke of Edinburgh Expedition

This year it has been a joy to welcome back Duke of Edinburgh expeditions. The expedition involves students planning and walking a route to a campsite where they camp overnight and then walk to their final destination on day 2. They have to carry everything they need with them so as well as their own food and kit they also carry their tents and cooking equipment.

Over two weekends, nearly 70 students completed their Bronze expedition and coped admirably with navigation challenges and the heat in one of the warmest months we have seen this year.

When they spoke to the expedition assessor at the end of the walk, many spoke of the pride they felt at completing such a task and enjoyed the time with friends without phones or social media.

When all the awards have been signed off we hope to have an event to celebrate their achievements in the new academic year. There will also be a silver group for those who wish to continue to the next level of the award in September.

Well done and thank you to all those involved!
