Regrettably, there has been a sharp increase in the number of confirmed positive Covid-19 cases among the students at Coloma this week. Having taken the appropriate advice from Public Health England, the Local Authority and the Governing Body, we have been advised to close the school to students at the end of Thursday 15th July; your daughter should not attend school for the rest of this academic year – i.e. on Friday 16th July.
Students who have been identified as a close contact of a confirmed case, will have already received a letter notifying them of the requirement to self-isolate and the date at which the self-isolation will end.
If you have not received the notice to self-isolate letter, your daughter is not a close contact from a school-based case and she does not need to self-isolate.
Your daughter has been given additional Lateral Flow Tests this week to take home. We strongly recommend that your daughter should continue to administer twice-a-week lateral flow tests and should seek a confirmatory PCR test if she tests positive. Similarly, if your daughter develops any of the recognised main symptoms of Covid-19 (fever, continuous cough, loss of taste and/or smell), please register for a PCR test via this link Get a free PCR test to check if you have coronavirus (COVID-19) – GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) and self-isolate as a family until the result is known.
We share your disappointment that the school year has ended so abruptly and are thankful for the joyful events we have managed to share this term. Our school newsletter and end of year Headteacher’s letter will follow tomorrow.
