HCPT Lourdes Pilgrimage

HCPT Lourdes Pilgrimage

This week, ten of our Year 12 students are in Lourdes, with Miss Wake and Miss Hunt, working with the charity HCPT to support sick, disabled and disadvantaged children on a pilgrimage holiday. Coloma has a long history of travelling to Lourdes with HCPT and form HCPT Group 703.

This year’s HCPT theme is ‘angels among us’ and the volunteers from Coloma have already been working hard to embody this spirit. They greeted the children by singing on their way to the welcome liturgy where they were brilliantly introduced to the story of Saint Bernadette by the organisers, North HCPT. The Coloma volunteers are attached all week to Family Group 14 where they are playing with the children and supporting the carers. At Hosanna House, the girls have already worked with a huge number of children crafting, face painting, playing football and Eden even took a star role as the Easter Bunny. Perhaps the highlight of the week so far has been volunteering as crowd support at the Torchlight procession, working with the caretakers of Lourdes, in which 10,000 people processed to the Basilica; the organisers were very complimentary of our volunteers and their support. More to come next week…

Please continue to keep HCPT Group 703 in your prayers as their time in Lourdes draws to a close and they prepare to travel home on Saturday.
